Description

About the Role

We're looking for a Digital Designer to join us on a contract basis. This is a role for someone who can own design work end to end — from early concepting through polished, build-ready deliverables — and keep a project moving without needing to be managed closely.

You'll work directly with art directors, lead developers and clients across web design and brand projects. Because our team is lean by design, you won't be one cog in a long assembly line; you'll have real ownership over the work and a direct hand in shaping how it comes together.

The ideal person is equal parts strong designer and reliable project partner: someone with genuine taste in Figma, comfort running their own timeline, and the kind of self-direction that makes a contract relationship easy.

Type of Role

Contract / freelance (1099)

Location

Remote, but overlap with East Coast working hours

Commitment

Project-based, up to 20–30 hours per week

About Loopdash

Loopdash is a small, independent digital design studio building websites and brand identities for mission-driven clients. We're a tight team that cares about craft, clean execution, and doing good work without layers of process getting in the way.

What You'll Do

  • Take design work from concept to final, build-ready files — wireframes, visual comps, design systems, and supporting graphics.
  • Own the day-to-day execution on projects with limited oversight: set your own pace, flag blockers early, and deliver on agreed dates.
  • Build and maintain clean, well-organized Figma files and component libraries that hand off smoothly to developers.
  • Translate briefs and feedback into thoughtful design decisions, and be able to explain the "why" behind your choices.
  • Help keep projects on track — managing your own timeline, anticipating dependencies, and communicating proactively about scope and schedule.
  • Collaborate directly with developers, designers and clients in a low-ego, get-it-done way.

What We're Looking For

  • A few (3–5+) years of digital/web design experience, ideally including agency and client-facing work. Experience in the advocacy/nonprofit space is a plus.
  • Highly self-directed and self-motivated. We're looking for someone comfortable owning their slice of a project and accountable for delivering it.
  • Demonstrated project management instincts: you manage your own time well, prioritize across competing deadlines, and keep work moving without hand-holding. Comfort working async via Slack is a plus.
  • Strong proficiency in Figma, including experience with prototyping, component libraries, and tidy, hand-off-ready file structure.
  • Design with development in mind — understanding how layouts get built and account for templates, responsive behavior, and front-end constraints rather than handing off comps that can't be implemented as designed.
  • Familiar with WordPress and comfortable working in the back end, including editing pages, managing content, and navigating the CMS.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, especially in remote/async settings.
  • A portfolio that shows range, craft, and attention to detail.

Nice to have: familiarity with how websites get built (CMS structures, WordPress, Advanced Custom Fields, basic front-end constraints), motion/animation chops, or experience working in the nonprofit and advocacy verticals.

How to Apply

We've kept this simple. Send us your portfolio, a couple of links, and a short note about yourself. No formal cover letter required — we'd rather see how you actually think and see your work. We review every submission and will reach out if there's a fit.

Loopdash is committed to a fair and inclusive hiring process and welcomes applicants from all backgrounds.

What We Offer

Flexible Working Hours

Work the hours that suit you, from wherever you do your best work. We care about the output, not the time you clocked it.

Real Project Ownership

You run your own work end to end, with a direct line to the client. No account layer, no project management layer.

Varied, High-Impact Work

Small team means no narrow lane. You'll move across projects and clients that actually matter instead of owning one slice of one account.

Independent by Design

This is flexible, contract-based work, not a desk and a badge. You keep your autonomy and we keep the overhead off your plate.

Fair, Transparent Rates

We pay competitively and we're upfront about it. No salary-band guessing games, no negotiating in the dark.

Lean, Minimal Bureaucracy

A small studio means fewer meetings, less process, and faster decisions. Your time goes into the work, not into managing the machine.
